Collaboration & Operationalisation (or How to Get Things Done)

Operationalisation, and the related collaboration with engineering, is a challenge for most data science projects – yet it’s also where business value resides. Alexey Kuntsevich (Data Scientist, FlixBus) and Marcel Boldt (Solutions Architect, Dataiku) will share best practices for communicating the DS working cycle with engineers and optimizing the design-to-deployment pipeline.Talk #1: How to Stay Friends with Data Engineers: a Data Scientist's Guide"This talk will detail what is important to take into consideration when data scientist works in a data-driven team. Alexey Kuntsevich, Data Scientist at FlixBus, will show a simplistic DS working cycle and transform the outcomes (including pieces of code and data) into elements that can be easily consumed by a team of data engineers to make it productive.Alexey Kuntsevich, Data Scientist at FlixBus:Over the last 12 years Alexey took part in building data products in various roles, from DBA to Data scientist as well as working on his PhD in vacuum electronics. At Flixbus, he conceives an internal AdTech product and is part of the team which drives the transition towards data-driven approaches in business. Alexey focuses on making automation and data insights more approachable by business as well as bringing data-driven teams towards technical excellence. One of the biggest recent topics he worked on is bringing cultures of data engineers and data scientists closer to each other in order to ease bringing data-driven products to production.Talk #2: Operationalisation: Solving the Real Challenge of Data ScienceMarcel Boldt, Solution Architect at Dataiku, will review the key requirements to keep in mind when working on your design-to-deployment pipeline, and underline the specificities of data science projects. Are the type of skills, which are required to build the model, those that you need to deliver great business value?Timeline:6:30 PM: Pizza, beer, & networking7:00 PM: “How to Stay Friends with Data Engineers: a Data Scientist's Guide" by Alexey Kuntsevich, Data Product Manager at FlixBus8:00 PM: "Operationalisation: Solving the Real Challenge of Data Science" by Marcel Boldt, Solutions Architect at Dataiku8:30 PM: More beer & networking
